There's An App For That... ;)

« on: November 27, 2009, 10:06:18 PM »

Well... I've been looking into developing/theme-making for the iPhone...and, I partially understand the whole concept...

The problem is, my Photoshop skills don't come quite as naturally as my Flash/Actionscript skills do, the iPhone root folder is French to me (I've taken French 2 years in high school), and I'm not entirely clear on how Cydia/Winterboard sets up a theme when it is selected... I'm not bad in Photoshop, but I'm nothing compared to people like Max Rudberg. And I don't see myself getting any better at the whole iPhone designing thing unless I have some sort of guidance...

So if anyone knows where I could go for assistance in learning about the iPhone filesystem, Cydia's and Winterboard's setup, and different Photoshop techniques, please post the information here... Unless you have the name of a specific teacher (or are a capable teacher yourself)... in which case just email me... Wink

Thanks for reading,

Jeffery

Thanks so much for your help... Smiley I've studied up on my own and have started on a theme thanks to the link you gave me... It's called Obscuritè as of now if anyone is curious... It means darkness... But keep it quiet until I'm positive it'll be completed... Lol... It's supposed to be a more complete theme than iElegance... So I started all my work on most of the UIImages and SpringBoard images first... anyway, there's your insider info... Thanks for the help again... Wink

You're welcome Smiley

My friend has made 2 Themes for his own phone so far.  He just doesn't have the time he would like to make more haha.  He says it's so complex it's not even funny lmao!

And sounds amazing, that Theme looks pretty sick!  So, I'm excited to see it come soon!  And hope to use it as well Smiley

WOW!!  I would never been able to learn how to make themes that way. I learned how to make themes on youtube. Its actually very simple. Look on youtube for ''make your own iphone theme''.  There are a few good videos that explain it really well. there are a few that make no sense. Just watch a few and you should get it right away.
