The following step by step tutorial will share with you how to rip/copy DVD to popular video formats and extract audio from DVD with high output video/audio quality on Mac OS X (Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard) using Aiseesoft DVD Ripper for Mac.

Note: The following guide only focuses on how to use this DVD Ripper for Mac to rip DVD to iPod on Mac OS X. If you want to rip DVD to video/audio format for another specific mobile player, just start over and choose another profile from the "Profile" drop-down list in Step 3.

Step 1. Download and install Aiseesoft DVD Ripper for Mac. ( Free Download )

Step 2. Import DVD Movies

Run Aiseesoft DVD Ripper for Mac. Click the "Load DVD" button to import the DVD movie you want to watch on your iPod.

After you add the DVD, you can choose any titles or chapters you want to convert by ticking the check boxes before them. You can choose to convert DVD with the entire movie or just one or several chapters at will; or you can choose to convert a segment of the DVD movie.

Step 3. Output Settings

Regular DVD movies usually have several subtitles such as English, French, German, etc. You can select the one you prefer. You can also delete the subtitle by selecting "No Subtitle". It is the same to select "Audio".

Extend the "Profile" drop-down menu and choose the format that best fits your iPod. Note: This DVD Ripper for Mac can also rip DVD to MP4, AVI, M4V, 3GP, MPG, MPEG, FLV, etc on Mac OS X.

If you want to customize the quality of the output video, you can click the "Settings" button to open the "Settings" window and set video resolution, frame rate, bit rate, encoder, etc. Aiseesoft DVD Ripper for mac lets you extract audio from DVD movie as well. You can set audio resolution, frame rate, bit rate and encoder on the 'Settings' panel.

Step 4. Start Conversion

After making the output settings, just click the "Start" button to start converting DVD for your iPod.

After you get the output video files, launch iTunes and start syncing them to your iPod.

There are several Tips and Tricks you can't miss while using this DVD Ripper for Mac to rip DVD to iPod on Mac OS X:

1. Trim DVD Title or Chapter

If you want to capture a clip from the current title/chapter, you can click the Trim button to open the Trim window and trim the current title or chapter by dragging the Start Time slider to set the start time, and dragging the End Time slider to set the finish time. Then you can only rip segments from dvd on mac.

2. Crop DVD Video

If you want to remove the black edges or just convert an area from your movie video, you can click the Crop button to crop the video of the current title or chapter. You can specify an area either by dragging the frame around the video or setting the crop values: Top, Button, Left and Right. Above the crop pane, you can select an output aspect ratio and the available options are: Keep Original, full screen, 16:9 and 4:3. You can preview the video in the select aspect ratio on the main interface and during the conversion process.

3. Video Effect

If you want to adjust the video effect of your movie, you can click the Effect button and drag each effect adjustment slider to set the video brightness, contrast, saturation and video volume. You can also choose a special effect from the Effect drop-down list to apply to your movie.

It is recommended that you choose iMedia Converter for Mac if you want to both rip DVD and convert video to iPod on your Mac machine.
