Conditional Boot Loop

Hey all. Lemme start off by introducing myself, as I am new here. I'm Craig.  I've run into a really really annoying glitch/bug/whatever you wanna call it with my iPhone 3gs.  Im currently running it on T-Mobile and it's running ver. 3.0.1. 
The issue that I'm running into is whenever I plug it into a device (the radio in my car, docking it in my home stereo, ect) that charges it (and, as it would seem) takes data, the phone instantly freezes on whatever page it is on, and enters a semi-infinite boot loop, where it will get to the splash screen, freeze again, and reboot.  However, I call it semi-infinite because whenever I unplug it from that source, the boot loop ends after it restarts for the next time.
It does NOT freeze up when I connect it to my computer and itunes. It can sync and charge through the usb cable. Also, for some reason, it freezes when I connect it to my cigarette lighter car charger...weird, because there is no data transfer there (as far as I know).
